Maisie qualified as a Social Worker in 1976 and spent a number of years working in hospitals, education, and social services. She then retrained as a Counsellor and qualified in 1995. Since then Maisie has in addition specialised in Assessment, and also trained and qualified as a Supervisor.

Maisie has achieved substantial experience built up over many years of counselling, supervising and teaching practice both in the psychodynamic tradition and by working with colleagues from other models of counselling.

Maisie is a Senior Accredited member of the BACP and adhere to the BACP Code of Ethics which includes their policy on confidentiality. This can be accessed at

Maisie has worked in Primary Care, Occupational Health, Further and Higher Education and have supervised trainee and experienced counsellors. For five years Maisie held the position of Assistant Clinical Director of Raphael, the Jewish Counselling Service.

Maisie is particularly interested in working with anxiety, depression, bereavement, health, work and stress related problems which may include debt, harassment, bullying and assertiveness. She offers counselling to trainee counsellors who are required to gain experience of counselling as a requirement of their training.

Maisie currently teaches the Introduction to Counselling Course at Birkbeck.
